Food Safety in Catering

This level 1 award in food safety in catering is suitable for young people who may be considering a career in the food industry or for anyone who is handling foods on a regular basis. This award has been developed to raise awareness of key food safety issues that is, provide the essentials of food hygiene.

The course syllabus focuses on four critical areas:

  • Food safety (food hygiene, hazards, responsibilities)
  • Personal hygiene
  • Cleaning
  • Contamination

The course is of 3 hours duration and assessment is by a multiple choice question paper by the CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) or the HABC (Highfield awarding body for compliance). Work books, handouts, leaflets and DVD’s are included within the cost.
