Depending on our occupation various pathogens can be found on our body. This course has been specifically designed for care workers in residential care, nursing care, day care and domiciliary care settings. Most care workers at some point prepare, transport or serve food. It is important that care is taken to stop the spread of bacteria.

The course covers the following topics:-

  • What is food hygiene
  • Bacteria, germs, fungi and viruses
  • Food poisoning and food borne-disease
  • preventing food poisoning
  • preventing contamination
  • cooking and cooling of food
  • Personal hygiene
  • Premises / environments
  • Cleaning and disinfection of the workplace
  • Food waste and pests
  • Legislation

The duration of this course is 6 hours and is accredited by the CIEH (Chartered Institute for Environmental health) or HABC (Highfield awarding Body for Compliance).
